Dentist – Dr Neha Thummalapenta

Qualifications – BDS with merit from Dundee university 2015
Since qualifying I have enjoyed working in a number of practices within the NHS and private systems.
I enjoy seeing all patients and especially helping anxious patients progress through their treatment journey and return with a smile on their faces!
As well as this, I love working with children & helping them through their dental journey and encouraging them to get into good habits from an early age in order to keep a healthy smile life long.
I believe that everyone deserves to have a natural healthy smile and my favourite thing as a dentist is helping a patient obtain their natural smile back and this can be obtained in so many different ways whether it is through simple oral hygiene and tooth whitening or Invisalign alignment or using build ups and contouring with white filling materials or more advanced crowns/veneers or dentures. Sometimes a combination of these things may be required.
I enjoy continually increasing my knowledge and increasing my skillset in order to give my patients the best options and treatment possible and therefore will be undertaking a Cosmetic Dentistry and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry Programme by restorative specialist Dr Chris Orr commencing in October 2019.

GDC: 6020
I started my career in 1988 as a dental nurse. After working with many dentists covering most specialised areas of dentistry decided to take the leap and become a dental hygienist, qualifying from Kings in 2002. Since qualifying I have undertaken further extensive training in areas such as implant maintenance to provide the best care I can to my patients.
I joined Brightlingsea Dental & Facial Aesthetics Clinic in 2019 where I am building a steady list of regular patients and feel I have settled in well.
I also enjoy using my skills to aid charities and have been involved with ‘Crisis at Christmas’ and ‘Bridge2Aid’ in Tanzania.
In my spare time I enjoy going for long walks with my dog Bailey, cycling and love skiing in the winter months.

I started my career in dentistry in 2002 gaining my NEBDN, I have built up experience chairside from NHS to Private. Over this time I have seen many nervous patients and like to put them at ease and make their visit a little more bearable.
I have been in my positon at Brightlingsea Dental & Facial Aesthetics Clinic since 2013 and like to think I would be a familiar face to our patients.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry but especially like following a patient journey, to see someone who has come in at their worst and leave at their best, it makes me happy to think I contributed in a small way.
Outside of work I enjoy volunteering weekly at my local parent and toddler group and going for bike rides or the cinema with family and friends.

GDC Number: 279722
I have always had a keen interest in dentistry and after joining Brightlingsea Dental & Facial Aesthetics Clinic in 2016 I enrolled onto the NEBDN course at Ipswich hospital where I was happy to pass all exams and become a qualified dental nurse in 2018. In the future I hope to extend my career by gaining further qualifications such as radiography and oral health education in order to enable me to become more involved in patient care.
I enjoy both general dentistry and the facial aesthetics aspects of my job, especially where I can see the patient leave with more confidence. It’s really nice to be a part of their journey.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling both in the UK and abroad, socialising with family and friends and walks with my French bulldog Winnie.
